Most games that are made have a run time of how long they last. Some last for a few years before the company moves on to the next one. Sure, people still play the game after the company moves on, but the games are no longer updated and nothing new ever gets added. Warframe is different though. Made seven years ago to this day and still growing, Warframe is a fun game with a great community that offers hours of entertainment.
What is Warframe
Warframe is a free-to-play game where you get to be a space ninja and fight off different factions of enemies. I would call them aliens, but they are not aliens; but a subspecies of humans that evolved differently. I will get into them later. You do different types of missions like extermination to just kill enemies, sabotage to destroy a target, defense to defend an object from waves of enemies, and assassination to kill and enemy boss. These are just a few of the mission types. There are also to open ended areas to play around in a do various stuff in.
Through all of this you can earn different gear to use, weapons to to fight the enemies with and the most important thing, Warframes. Warframes are the armor you character wears in the game and they offer different abilities. Each Warframe has four abilities they can do and each on is different. To get different Warframes, you have to build them by getting the parts for it. You need the main blueprint plus the three component blueprints. Once it is all build, you have a new Warframe to play with.
The Best Gear to Get
The best gear you can get is Prime stuff, it is better versions of the base gear and what everyone wants to get. There are to ways to get it, one is to earn and two is to trade. There are items called relics that you earn by playing the game, in each relic there are six items that you could get from it of different rarities. Three common, two uncommon and one rare. You can upgrade it to increase the chance of getting the rare item, but it is still a gamble. You do specific missions with a relic equip and once the mission ends you see what you got from the relic. If there are other with you and they to had relics you could choose to get a copy of what they got if you do not like what you got. The other way to earn this is to trade people for the gear. Most trade for a currency called Platinum which is a currency you buy with real money. Some might trade for other pieces you have but most just want Platinum. These are the two main ways; the third way is through Prime Access, a pack you can buy with real money to instantly get the Prime Warframe and weapons. It is available to buy when new Primes are released and have a run time of three month afterwards you can only get it through the other two means.
How to Get Better
When you get new gear, you need to level it up. All gear has a max level of 30 but that is not where it ends. To truly make gear good, you need mods. Mods are items you earn by playing that offer bonus states to your weapons and Warframe. They can increase things like damage, rate of fire, efficiency and plenty of other things. Because of mods, any weapon can be made destructive against high level enemies if the right mods are installed. Some weapons will still be better than others, but any can be great with the right use of mods. You can try to mod it how you think will work but there are hundreds of guides online on how to best build something.
The Story so Far
When the game first was released, there was not much to it. Just endless repeating missions and no story to speak of. But as time went on, the game was updated and suddenly a story started to build. You start to learn the history of the game’s universe, who were the ancient empire known as the Orokin, the truth behind what you really are. I won’t spoil the truth here, if you want to know play the game yourself, or just look up a YouTube video somewhere you lazy people. At the current point, players have to build a ship called a Railjack to do ship missions in to prepare for a new war with an old enemy. The story is set to continue sometime this month and I am looking forward to that.
More Fun with Friends
Like most online games, Warframe is a multiplayer game. Up to three people can join you to make a four-man squad. There are a few story missions that you have to go alone but outside of that any mission can have others backing you up. If you don’t have anyone to play with than you don’t have to worry because the game has a matchmaking system that will pair you with random players to help in the mission. You can also use the in-game chat system to put a post asking for help from other players. It is a good way to make new friends because you never know who you are going to meet.
